The deafening silence

Do you hear it?

Neither do I.

It's been 6 days now since Charlie Sheen put his entire career and probably life on the line, by bravely challenging the American media to a debate on the truth of 9-11.

Can you hear it now?

I don't either.

France, Russia, England, India...these countries have wasted little time in giving the story front page status. The American news media...crickets.

Well I take that back. There were a limited few voices in American media that chimed right in with the expected ad-hominem attacks the day after he came forward. They played right into Mr. Sheen's hand with that move however, prompting him to immediately challenge his detractors to an un-edited live television debate. Meghan McCain, Bill O'reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limpbaugh, heck Mr. Sheen even invited the authors of the Popular Mechanics "debunking team" to join the live debate. And since his challenge...

Do you hear it yet?

I don't either.

So not only has Mr. Sheen called out the establishment, he has given them the chance to silence the truth movement once and for all...yet...there are no takers. Even the "progressive" American blogosphere is not touching this story. What are people so afraid of?

I think David Lynch summed it up best. (He's a "truther" too, ofcourse you wouldn't know this thanks to the free and open American media.) He was quoted in a 2006 Dutch TV interview as saying "It's just too big" after being asked about the concept of the US government being involved in the 9-11 attacks. "People just don't want to think about it."

Unfortunately he is right. I think he also stumbled onto the reality of America, our one true legacy if you will.

Willful ignorance.

Do you hear it yet?

The American Media

You ever wake up and feel like your life has become a book? I do, quite often actually, unfortunately it's not a riveting tale of adventure where the good guy wins in the end. This book that I find us all slowly becoming a part of is called "1984", written many years ago by George Orwell.

In watching the American media evolve over the past several years, it is quite obvious that a steady march towards sensationalism and burying the truth at all costs have become the modus operandi. Botox filled faces with forced smiles telling us all what their corporate masters want us to hear. Their motives, you know the infamous "them", are numerous and likewise dubious.

Profit, power, control, manipulation..the list goes on and on, with very few positives that I can think of. The methods to their madness I will leave for another day's discussion. Their actions, today in particular, are what I would like to focus on.

Death, war, hatred, fear, suspicion. These are the themes that the US media has been using as a backdrop for many years, especially so since our "New Pearl Harbor" happened back in September of 2001. Constantly reinforcing (perhaps creating in certain instances) the problems, and offering our government, or more specifically giving our government more power to combat these problems as the only reasonable solution.

It has been a very slow, but steady conditioning, one which in recent times has been ratcheted up a few notches. Convincing us that it is necessary for us to lose certain "rights" in order to fight the numerous invisible boogeymen of our time. Who knows how long this "war on _____" will last, but you can be certain the only way to win is to submit to government control!

So anyways, back to today's topic. The American media. The never ending theatrics, the 24-7 coverage of trivial stories, the complete disregard for important news, it just needs to stop.

I write this blog today based on the news that Micheal Jackson has died, and what I am predicting will be a possibly month long, 24 hour a day, 7 day a week coverage of every conceivable angle to this "story". Millions of American homes with millions of impressionable minds will be flooded with the sights and sounds of this man's life.

Meanwhile, stories of truly epic proportion with grave consequences for the future of our country will be completely ignored. The dumbing down of our modern day society has reached a tipping point. It is now that people should be standing up and demanding more from our media, from our elected "officials", and from perhaps even ourselves. But will they? Not if it requires any type of real sacrifice. Not if it requires a total paradigm shift.

Our country is still on the verge of revolution, and certainly there are those in power who are aware of this. The recent election of President Obama has done a great deal to calm the masses, but the underlying problems that created the brief spark of awakening in America are still there. Endless wars, millions imprisoned un-justly, true criminals who happen to be either rich or connected walking the streets, poverty, homelessness, crime..shall I go on?

How great would it be if our media were to substitute the upcoming onslaught of Micheal Jackson coverage with say...a truly in-depth look at how we find ourselves still raging wars all throughout the Middle East? Every angle, every person with credible knowledge on the topic, until an answer is reached.

How great would it be if our media would devote a month's worth of programming into the flaws of the original 9-11 commission report?

Now ofcourse you and I both know that neither of these things will happen anytime soon, if ever. Through years of endless double-speak and telling us who we should hate and who our friends are, I don't think that a majority of our population would even be able to accept the reality of why things are how they are, and how it came to be.

So here's to you American media! Through one of the most world changing techonologies ever invented by man, you have succeeded in creating a nation of lemmings. All of the wonderous changes that you could help bring to this world, and instead you focus on profits, distortion, and keeping your paymasters in control.

So much for the theory of evolution!
